Hey!

My name is Hassiet and in Amharic it means joy. Growing up and enduring various trials as we all have, I didn't seem to fit into the meaning of my own name. I had questioned why I had even been named joy when I hadn't felt it at all for a long period of time. I had been praying for a breakthrough continuously pleading to God so I could have peace of mind and finally be "happy". But the prayers hadn't seemed to work. Little did I know it was because there was no faith behind them. They had been empty prayers said with no faith. Later that month, I had stumbled upon the book of James in the Bible. While I was reading the first chapter, a revelation struck me that I couldn't expect for my prayers to work if I didn't believe that God could do what I was asking of Him. I also had learned as it says in James 1: 2-4 that trial and tribulation should be looked at with joy because I was being sharpened and toned to be mature and complete within Christ. Later that day I started to pray with faith knowing that my prayers would be answered according to His will and timing. I can now say that I embody the meaning of my name, learning that joy is not circumstantial, but rather a gift from God that withstands any sorts of trials no matter how big or small.
